Motsatte has a unique form of government involving a single elected official and a council of judges. Below is more information on these positions.
The Leder
The Leder is a democratically elected official with a position similar to a president. A Leder can be elected for 2 terms of 10 years. Long ago, when setting up a government, the Motsattions decided to keep it simple and have a single elected leader. Later, one council to was added to keep the Leder in check. The Leder serves a role similar to a president. While the laws have to go through the Leder before being approved and passed to the council, and the Leder is a public figurehead. The Leder does not have control over the military. The Leder also serves as a supreme judge over the council. In the event that the Leder is corrupt or is not doing his job, the Council will start an event, nicknamed a 'Leder Deleter' where the public votes whether to impeach the current Leder or not. In the event that a court case is stuck in the Council, the Leder will break the tie.
The Council of Motsatte
The Council of Motsatte, or Council for short, is a group of 6 democratically elected officials. The Council was founded after a corrupt Leder caused major problems. In the event that it would happen again, someone was needed to keep the Leder in check. The Council members serve for life. Once an upcoming law is created or passed by the Leder it is ultimately approved and executed by the Council. Each member is a head of a department: Law, Military, Justice, Foreign Affairs, Economy, and Internal Affairs. Law- It executes laws approved and can also dissolve bad or outdated laws. Military- Self explanatory. The head decides whether to declare war or not and is chief commanding general of the whole army. Justice- The justice head oversees smaller local courts and will occasionally act as judge for high court cases. Any court cases that get pushed past them are overseen by the whole council. Foreign Affairs- The foreign affairs head oversees, well, foreign relations. They act similar to ambassadors and often accompany the Economy head to discuss trade agreements. Economy- The economy head handles imports and exports. Internal Affairs- Internal Affairs handles the general wellbeing of the people. Most laws originate here. In the event that the Leder dies unexpectedly, the Internal Affairs head replaces him as acting Leder. If one Council head does their job poorly or becomes corrupt, the other Council members and the Leder will vote to impeach them. The Leder's vote is worth two council votes and there must be at least five votes in order to impeach a Council head immediately.

Law-Making
Law-making is a special procedure in Motsatte. It starts with a petition that has to have at least ten thousand signatures and has to have been recommended by at least ten people in active government positions. These petitions are then sent to local courts, where they are approved or thrown out. All approved laws are sent to a higher court level known as 'nation courts'. They are then approved to the Leder or thrown out. If the Leder approves the law it is sent to the Council and then approved and executed.
Courts
Courts serve as the representation of the government in local neighborhoods. Below is another condensed list for your reading pleasure explaining the court system. Courts- They handle petty cases such as minor thievance (i.e. stealing a purse or something else small like that) and give drivers' tests and licenses. Nation Courts- They handle more serious cases such as assault or higher levels of theft such as automobile theft. They also handle new citizenships. Nation courts are managed by the Internal Affairs head. Justice Courts- Justice courts handle even higher cases similar to lawsuits or murder. The Law head will occasionally serve as judge for extreme cases. Above that are the Council, who will serve as judges for cases directly attacking the law or that remained undecided at lower levels. In the event that the Council ties the Leder will break the tie.
